This is a cake bakers dream! In this class, we will learn about, make and practice with approx. 5 different types of buttercream and their uses. Idea for participants 9+ who are eager to learn, can follow direction and maintain attention.
Participants will prep, make and learn about several different types of buttercream, including Swiss, Italian, French, American and German. They will use this buttercream to learn simple floral piping techniques which they will use to decorate their cake at the end of the week.
Following a recipe, and working in pairs, students will learn the value of quality ingredients while they measure, count and weigh to scratch bake their cakes. They will learn how to level, fill, crumb coat their cakes. They will also be taught different finishing techniques to final coat their cake before they decorate it with their piped flowers.
As they will be working in pairs on some parts of the projects it's great if friends can sign up together everyone will go home with a two tier cake to bring home decorated with buttercream florals, a drip and more.
Students are requested to bring a reusable water bottle with a tight seal, and a snack. Indoor, close toed, no slip shoes are required (clean sneakers fit the bill perfectly), as well, clothing must be fitted with no loose ties or wide open pockets. Short hair must be covered with a hat and long hair must be tied back at both ends (braids, buns are ideal).
